If you’re planning on taking a trip, going on vacation, or need the use of a rental car while your vehicle is in the shop, you may want to think about getting rental car insurance coverage.
While there are a few full coverage auto insurance companies that include rental car insurance coverage under their policy umbrellas, many do not. Therefore, if you want to be covered when you need to use a rental car, rental car insurance is a must.
Keep reading to find out which companies offer rental car insurance and where to find the best deals.
What are the best companies offering rental car insurance?
With the car rental industry market share increasing with an expected growth rate of 8.22%, it’s no wonder that the need for car rental insurance is increasing.
Buying rental car insurance through a rental car service dealer can cost anywhere from $6 a day to over $30 a day, depending on the type of coverage that you need and how long you’ll need it. This expense, on top of your already pricey rental car, can really drive costs up, especially if you need a rental car for an extended period of time.
However, the good news is that there are a few stand-alone companies that provide this coverage at a fraction of the cost.
Bonzah
Cost: Starts at $7.99 per day
Bonzah is a great option for drivers that need coverage for pretty much anything. It provides up to $35,000 in coverage for collision, theft, vandalism, or other damage to a rental car, with no deductible needed.

- Roadside assistance if you’re traveling more than 100 miles from your mailing address, which covers towing, battery services, flat tire assistance, fuel/oil/water delivery, lock-out assistance, and collision assistance
Roadside assistance does require an additional service fee of $2.99 per day.
Bonzah requires its drivers to be at least 21 years or older with a valid driver’s license.
